Back to top| Home What Type of Yoga do you do ?
Using technical terms , we practice Astanga Yoga - an eight limbed Yoga practice elaborated by the sage Patanjali. Incorporated in this practice are components of Kriya yoga, Hatha Yoga, Tantra, Ayurveda (yogic medicine) and meridian medicine. What does this mean in lay terms ? Basically it means that yoga starts on the physical level and gradually shifts inwards towards the mind as you gain the experience necessary to work at the more subtle levels. The beginning stages of yoga start with an emphasis on Hatha yoga which uses asana, pranayama and sensory control practices to prepare your body and mind for higher practices such as meditation . Back to top| Home Personalised Yoga practice
This is an offering where we design a yoga practice specifically suited to you. You practice at home and if you wish, during our supervised personal yoga practice sessions. Personalised Practice is open to anyone. For example, you may have an injury or health problem you are dealing with. Maybe you want to learn something specific, improve your well-being or take your yoga to another level. Each of you has your own specific energy configuration called your constitution. Your specific "constitutional make up" consists of some combination of the five elements. In Ayurvedic medicine and Yoga we call this your Nature or Prakruti. This constitution predisposes you to be effected negatively by some elements and positively by others. Superimposed on top of your constitution is your current Condition or state of imbalance (vrikriti) - the current energetic state of your body. Armed with this knowledge we work together with you to build a specific yoga practice for you that works to balance your current condition and supports your constitution. Also factored into the equation is your lifestyle and interests. It is pointless to design a "perfect program" for you if you wont do it. The end result may be a ten to 30 minute daily practice which you do at home . It may include longer practices at the school - we run supervised personal practice on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 6.30-7.30 am. Your practice may also include other factors which effect you such as diet, lifestyle and relationships. Personalised practice is a long term approach which requires commitment, discipline and practice from you. It requires regular consultations. Regular consultation could mean weekly, biweekly, monthly, bi-annual or even annual. This depends on your condition, interest, stage of development and finances. The process starts with an initial consultation where we discuss issues like this. An initial consultation costs $110 and lasts one and a half hours. To make a consultation, either or phone 9555-7544 or 0417-655-601 Back to top Home What do I need to bring, what do I have to wear ?
